Unlike other hair types such as Chinese or
Indian, Russian hair is naturally fine, soft
and silky in texture. Often Chinese and Indian/Asian
hair are harshly processed in order to make
them lighter in colour and appear finer in
texture. This processing strips the natural
cuticle leaving the hair weak and brittle.
A silicone coating is often applied to restore
the hair's natural shine but unfortunately
after a few washes this wears off and the
hair is left dull and lifeless and prone
to matting and tangling.
Due to the fact that virgin Russian hair
is often naturally much lighter in colour
than other hair types it can be lightened
or dyed to reach an exact colour match much
more easily and without the need for such
harsh chemicals. The less processing the
hair has been through the easier it is to
maintain and if well cared for Russian hair
extensions can last for years rather than
months.
